Exploring the Possibilities of Cloud- Enablement

Although India’s digital transformation journey began a couple of years ago, the country is still at a nascent stage in its adoption of major digital disruptors. While digital technologies are beginning to proliferate quite steadily across the country, India is still trailing behind in several crucial areas of development, with the lack of availability of digital skills being a primary concern. The absence of solid basic infrastructure to support the availability of data services, also presents the country with major challenges. Be it in villages or tier 3-4 cities, there is a need for adequate bandwidth to support the roll-out of services across all geographies.

It is also essential to nurture an ecosystem that will allow for the provisioning of integrated services across different markets. Although the presence of Cloud and a number of other services in the market presents customers with ample opportunities, there is not enough importance given to the customer’s overall experience. There is a need to focus more on the life of the consumer and work towards enabling an ecosystem where the customer can go end-to-end without having to seek different vendors in different locations and the interrupted services that accompany this process.

Better accessibility and sustainability through Cloud

Most organisations today are looking to construct business models, where the primary means of interaction with the customer is through a mobile device, the Internet or sensors. However, in order to scale to the level of mobility that is now required to reach a global audience, applications need to be more Cloud-enabled.

Cloud stands apart in providing opportunities where infrastructure is available at our fingertips across the globe. The challenge here, however, is that certain enterprises as they grew over time, carried business models, infrastructure and processes, which were built on captive or in-house applications and processes. In order to carry out implementations on the Cloud, one needs to adapt the existing infrastructure and convert to hybrid models where accessibility will be global.

The use of Cloud in highly regulated industries also calls for several other considerations. In such environments, organisations need to align data applications and services without compromising on security. Every organisation therefore needs an architecture where one can segregate and identify processes and applications that need to be on-premise or on Hybrid, Private and Public Cloud models, while ensuring that data and processes are protected simultaneously.
