Microsoft pledged to fund 14.7 billion reais ($2.70 billion) into Brazil in the next three years to improve its cloud infrastructure and artificial intelligence (AI) in the biggest economy in Latin America. This is the biggest investment ever announced in Brazil by Microsoft, with the potential to increase Brazil's economic growth by up to 4.2% by 2030 through extensive AI adoption.

The investments are included in the larger "Microsoft Mais Brasil" program announced by the American technology giant in 2020 to strengthen its ongoing dedication to the South American country. The company announced plans to enhance its cloud and AI infrastructure at multiple datacenters in Sao Paulo state and provide AI training to around 5 million individuals in the upcoming three years.

"We are committed to supporting the AI transformation in Brazil and ensuring it benefits everyone," Microsoft Chief Executive Satya Nadella said.

Brazilian Vice President Geraldo Alckmin stated that the investment demonstrates Brazil's potential to lead in global AI and highlighted the country's renewable energy resources for data center operations.
