The co-founders of Zerodha, Nitin and Nikhil Karnath have topped the list of self-made richest Indians under the age of 40. According to IIFL Wealth Hurun India 40 & Under Self-Made Rich List 2020, the wealth of the two brothers went up by 58 per cent this year to Rs 24,000 crore.
Nitin Karnath who is 40 years old with his younger brother Nikhil Karnath who is currently 34 years old had co-founded the online trading platform Zerodha and took it further to become India’s largest stock broker with respect to the number of clients.
“Some of them have fully or partly exited their core businesses and are setting up investment funds and backing other young entrepreneurs. This will have a compounding effect on the growth of disruptive entrepreneurship in India," Anas Rahman Junaid, MD and chief researcher, Hurun India, said in a release.
Speaking of the online platform Zerodha had become India’s largest stock broker and was bootstrapped by the aforementioned two brothers. The company’s tech team has now turned seven years old and has remained largely elusive over the course of its existence.
Right after Karnath brothers, with a net worth of Rs 14,000 crore, Divyank Turakhia who is currently at his 38 years took the second spot in the rich list. Following him, the third position is shared by the co-founders of Udaan - Amod Malviya, Vaibhav Gupta and Sujeet Kumar.
