IBM partners with NSDC to offer Free Digital Training in New-Age Technologies

IBM today has announced that it would be partnering with the National Skill Development Corporation  (NSDC) to help youths of India across the country. For this, they would be offering free digital training in emerging technologies such as Blockchain, AI and ML, cybersecurity, Cloud, and Internet of Things (IoT). 

 

The free digital education platform called eOpen P-TECH will be completely focused on professional development skills and emerging technologies.  

According to a statement, Open P-TECH will be curated by IBM for online courses to offer it to users utilizing NSDC’s eSkill India portal. 

 "Online training through digital platforms like Open P-TECH and eSkill India need to be accelerated to overcome geographical and socio-economic barriers. Digital learning will enable higher participation of women in the labour workforce as the scope for employability will increase," commented Dr Manish Kumar, MD and CEO, NSDC.

With more than 60 hours of learning, IBM will catalogue its over 30 Open P-TECH courses on eSkill India portal under the partnership.

With a vision to aid learners who are between 18 to 22 age groups,  IBM will provide online courses completely free in emerging technologies, along with professional skills like 'Design Thinking.’ 

 "Our collaboration with NSDC is a significant milestone to equip the next generation with digital skills. Open P-TECH will make foundational learning in emerging technology and professional skills for the youth more accessible," said Sandip Patel, Managing Director, IBM India/South Asia.

The platform has over 1.6 million minutes of digital content and courses. Along with workplace learning skills, the Open P-TECH platform which was launched in March this year would be focusing on equipping learners and educators with foundational technology competencies. 

The platform currently supports English language, but however, it is expected to add other regional languages such as Telugu, Punjabi, Kannada, Tamil, Gujurati, Urdu, and Bengali, among others.
