IIT-Madras signs MoU with Japanese firm to bring new water technologies to India

ICCW – The International Centre for Clean Water, located at IIT-Madras, is collaborating with DG TAKANO, a Japanese firm, for introducing new clean water technologies in India.

An MoU was signed between ICCW and DG TAKANO in recent times for collaboration on projects on clean water and for developing innovative products for soling existing societal and environmental challenges in the area of clean and safe drinking water.

T Pradeep, In-Charge, ICCW, said, “Conserving water efficiently needs technological partnerships between nations and this is a timely beginning. DG TAKANO will provide its expertise in cutting-edge Japanese sustainable technologies and support ICCW to collaborate with Japanese companies to develop innovative products and technologies. It will also hire interns from IIT-Madras.”

Amuro Osman, Head of Global Sales And Marketing, DG TAKANO, said, “The projects we undertake will be in the fields of clean water, water treatment, water security and stewardship covering raw water and wastewater.”

ICCW and DG TAKANO collaboration is considering taking new projects and conducting joint research for resolving the water crisis, with project focusing on the implementation of proven technology, field testing of emergent technology, development of new technology, educational training programmes, and internship programmes.
