Kapil Kaul Is Appointed As CEO Of IIT Kanpur Development Foundation

Today, IIT Kanpur announced the appointment of Mr. Kapil Kaul as the first CEO of the IIT Kanpur Development Foundation (IITKDF), a Section 8, not for profit, company established by IIT Kanpur. Mr. Kapil Kaul, who is a veteran fundraising professional, joins the IITKDF with a record of accomplishment in the resource development at Save The Children India, the Indian Institute for Human Settlements and IIT Bombay. He will initiate the vision and strategy of the IITKDF and lead the fund raising efforts for aligning IIT Kanpur’s long-term growth aspirations, engaging with external stakeholders including the alumni, corporates and philanthropists in India and in different parts of the world. He will be reporting to the board of Directors at IITKDF.

We are confident that he would ensure that IITKDF helps achieve the IIT Kanpur’s growth objectives and long term aspirations!”

Mr. Kapil Kaul is a seasoned professional who has over two decades of proven leadership and rich experience of working with diverse stakeholders and organizations. His professional journey started with HDFC Bank where he joined as a part of the first batch of management trainees. He spent working with brands like ABN AMRO, Deutsche Bank, Royal Bank of Scotland, Save the Children, and IIHS. Recently, he concluded professional assignment with IIT Bombay, where he was leading the institute’s Development Office.

The newly appointed CEO of IIT Kanpur Development Foundation (IITKDF), Mr. Kapil Kaul said, “It’s an honor to be a part of the great team at the institute. Mr. Kapil Kaul will receive guidance from the Board of IIT-KDF which consist of eminent alumni including Dr. BVR Mohan Reddy, IITK MT74, Founder and Executive Chairman – Cyient Corporation, Chairman Board of Governors, IITR and IITH; Mr. Rajeev Ranjan, IITK BT92, President – IITK Foundation USA, Director – Synopsys; and Mr. Rajiv Swarup, IITK BT73, the Former President Shiv Nadar University, Former Chief Customer Officer and Sr. CVP HCL America.

The Board is chaired by Mr. Abhar Karandikar, Director, IIT Kanpur, with Prof. S Ganesh, Deputy Director, and Prof. Jayant Singh, Dean of Resources and Alumni as ex-officio members.
