| | March 20184CIOReviewEditorial2017 was a great year for DevOps. The industry witnessed a wide-scale adoption of DevOps and the acceptance of DevOps principles was evident. Enterprises also acknowledged the increasing importance of bringing security and compliance within the purview DevOps transformations in order to succeed. Another factor that has counted itself in is serverless technology. Containers and orchestration edges are becoming commoditized to the point where they are being abstracted away. This is leading to the mainstream acceptance of a new breed of IT operations professional - site reliability engineer (SRE). SRE will continue to grow in prevalence this year as ops professionals start to work on their software development skills to be able to collaborate more effectively with developers.
