Added to it, the Government's push to make India a 100 percent EV nation by the year 2030, have pushed automotive companies tread into the EV space to expand their portfolio. This thrust for EVs may also create a significant change in India's energy security priorities, with securing lithium supplies, a key raw material for making batteries, becoming as important as buying oil and gas fields overseas. EVs are ushering in, smart phones to laptops and storage of green energy production, and lithium-ion batteries. Innovative battery designs, chemistries and cell formats are being introduced for power performances in order to meet the advanced needs of products today.These batteries, often called LiB, are rechargeable and with higher energy capacity thus allowing on-the-go consumers to keep using devices without replacing the batteries or frequently charging them. Recently, the Automotive Research Association of India (Arai) successfully tested lithium-ion batteries developed by our very own Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre for use in two- and three-wheeled vehicles. This development is expected to provide an impetus to India's electric vehicles (EV) push.In a recent breakthrough, an innovator in sustainable mobility and energy infrastructure startup, Ultraviolette Automotive raised Rs 30 Cr Series B investment led by TVS Motor Company. Indian health in the EV domain further improving with several industries pooling their money into startups.
