This number is expected to increase as 94 percent of respondents plan to implement IIoT strategies by 2021. Going by a prediction of IDC, the spending on IoT technology will reach a trillion US dollars by 2022. The largest sectors investing in the emerging technology include discrete manufacturing, process manufacturing, transportation and utilities. A multitude of technologies are being implemented to boost the growth in the number of feasible IIoT use cases, aiming at enhancing operational efficiency in every segment. One of the seminal adoptions is of 5G which is believed to transform connectivity for industries betting big on IoT. The technology is being designed to address IoT's connectivity needs and is expected to give a fillip to its productivity.
