With work from home and remote collaborations continuing well into 2021, cloud computing has emerged as an ally for enterprises. Due to the need for businesses to access critical appli-cations for continuity in operations, this prompts the growth and scalability of cloud infrastructure. Through this, it further cements its importance as an essential service, paving the way for modernization of legacy ap-plications. Legacy applications often based on monolithic archi-tecture, are not only difficult but also costly to update and maintain since the entire application's components are bucketed together. Even if updated, it could result in integration complexities resulting in wastage of time and resources. By modernizing an application to a mi-croservices architecture, components are smaller, loosely coupled, and can be deployed and scaled independently.With cloud architecture growing more complex, IT services providers are expected to deliver the best com-bination of services to fulfil customer needs. They need to conduct a deep-dive analysis into the customer's busi-ness, technical costs and contribution of each applica-tion in the IT portfolio. Based on the functional and technical value that each application brings along, the IT services provider should recommend the most compat-ible modernization and migration approach.
