Industrial revolution is taking place all across the world. The integration of smart technologies has given rise to the industry 4.0 framework. How can manufac-turing enterprises evolve under the smart manufactur-ing industry 4.0 framework? Smart manufacturing Industry 4.0 framework facilitates to use data acumens to identify potential manufactur-ing/production losses. Smart manufacturing Industry 4.0 framework leverages the technology benefits vari-ous Digital Levers like of Cyber-Physical Systems, Big Data & Analytics, AI, 3D Printing, Augumented Re-ality, Cloud-based Manufacturing (C-BM), Internet of Service (IOS) and Internet of Things (IoT) to balance throughput, cost and quality. Smart manufacturing Industry 4.0 consists of the following modules Integrated planning & execution, logistics visibility, inventory management, procurement management, smart warehousing, autonomous & B2C logistics, and prescriptive supply chain analytics. This ecosystem will be enabled by a wide range of digital le-vers, i.e. Cloud, Big Data and Analytics, IoT, 3D print-ing and augmented reality. Digitization levers are an integration factor of each link of an organization's value chain. Combining the above said digital technologies can enable a new business model of products and servic-es and enable integration of organization's value chain.2. What are the barriers of using Advanced Manufactur-ing Technologies (AMTs) in manufacturing companies? The manufacturing industries are the backbone of the industrialization process in developing and developed countries. They play a crucial role in increasing the country's economy. With globalization and free trade agreements, this industry is under increasing pressure to adopt advanced manufacturing technologies (AMTs) to be competitive or simply to survive. Even though studies have shown that AMT can be implemented in smaller firms and are more successful than bigger firms, the implementation of AMT requires the industries to adopt new ways of thinking and doing work, taking into cognizance to following barriers organisational struc-ture, match between technical & business need, lack of skill set, cost, implementation experience, availability of maintenance service & policies, availability of spare Dr. R.Chandran,CIO
