But trust me, we will never run out of pointers to discuss. Retail technology is a long game and advancing innovations can be on the rise for a very long time. This year has seen a sharp jump in the demand for customizable retail solutions. Because the universe has put it out on the open, that businesses are emerging from domains you had never expected. Amidst this rumble, customization is the key buzzword. Is customization just another name for personalization, a notion that has dominated retailers' shopping experience strategies in recent years? It might be most accurate to describe it as the intersection where different forms of on-demand manufacturing technology meet the need for more personalized shopping experiences, as well as the evolving expectation among customers that they should have more control over product selection. In short, it's about giving the customer exactly what they want. As ecommerce becomes an increasingly dominant force in the world of retail, businesses will have to get innovative if they hope to compete. For many, investing in a personalized, tailor-made customer experience is shaping up to be the key to future-proofing business. Online shopping has done more than change the way people find and purchase goods -- its encouraged businesses to rethink how they relate to their customers, and how customers relate to their products. Through personalization and customization, businesses can better position themselves to meet consumer expectations for increasingly tailored retail experiences. Solely meeting consumers with a traditional brick-and-mortar experience is a surefire way to become a victim of the retail apocalypse, and there are certainly enough tragic examples. However, there is `cult' of buyers, who have constantly challenged the ways of the retailers. The omnichannel shopper ! The online and brick-and-mortar worlds have merged, giving consumers the ability to experience purchasing on a whole new level and in more than one exciting way: immersive/in real life (IRL), virtually or both. With high-definition imagery, customer reviews, streaming tutorials and user-friendly, 360-degree product and services videos -- compatible with consumer VR headgear -- remote parties can feel exceptionally informed before hitting the "add to cart" button. It's a storm out here; if you're a retailer, careful where you're headed. These vendors we have featured in this edition might come handy. Correction; can be your life guard.
