HOUSTON, TX: Accenture signs a deal to acquire Structure Group – a provider of system integration, customized solutions and consulting services for energy and utilities industry, extending its capabilities in smart grid operations.
The acquisition adds the deployment of advanced distribution management systems and automation solutions with improvement of outage management and grid analytics. The combination of Structure Group’s market operations and commodities trading services and Accenture’s expertise in digital asset management make easier for clients to optimize their commercial positions.
Omar Abbosh, Senior MD of Accenture Resources operating group, states that Structure’s capabilities in grid operations and power systems engineering, combined Accenture’s information technology (IT) expertise, will give end-to-end solutions and services to support the integration of operational technologies with IT systems. The integration clears the path to establish a smarter and more digital grid.
The Structure Group delivers multiple utilities and energy industry related solutions including smart grid operations, competitive energy marketing and Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition (SCADA) & energy management. The company considers Smart Grid as a platform that supports utility electricity delivery systems by using remote control and automation. Works on two-way communication technology, this program is utilized on electricity networks, from the power plants and wind farms as well as for consumers of electricity in homes and businesses.
