With the continued growth of its business there, Apple is expanding its presence in India. The Indian government is in constant contact with the IT giant to promote its business endeavours, according to Piyush Goyal, minister of commerce and industry.

He claimed that the traditional way the electronics sector functions is to first put up a basic setup before gradually finding different components to incorporate into their ecosystem.

"Apple is continuously expanding their operations in India. We are in regular touch with Apple, MeITY (Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology) is also in touch with them. We hand-hold them because in a way, the eyes of the whole world are fixed on Apple," he said when asked about Apple's plan to start a full-fledged manufacturing unit in India.

For the production of its iPhones in India, Apple depends on the industry behemoths Foxconn, Wistron, and Pegatron. In a recent report, the Minister stated that India's exports of mobile and electronic products had increased in the previous year, with Apple alone selling goods from the nation valued almost USD five billion at that time. In the following three to five years, he also stated that the corporation plans to produce 25% of its global output in India.

As part of its ambitious ambition to reach carbon neutrality for all of its products by the end of the decade, the business also committed to utilise 100% recycled cobalt in batteries by 2025.

The tech giant also said that it would use recycled rare earth elements in its device magnets and recycled tin solder and gold plating in its in-house created printed circuit boards. These initiatives show Apple's commitment to minimising its environmental impact and fostering sustainability throughout its supply chain.

Apple is stepping up its sustainability initiatives in an effort to become carbon neutral throughout its entire supply chain and product life cycle by 2030. The internet giant recently revealed that it has increased its financial contribution to a fund started two years ago to finance initiatives to reduce atmospheric carbon. This is consistent with the business's continued efforts to lessen its carbon impact and fight climate change.
