e& - the emirati based telecommunication firm has collaborated with New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) with an aim to foster advancements in 6G technology and this strategic collaboration which is outlined in a MoU, aims for bridging the gap between academia as well as the industry. It also focuses on empowering students via initiatives that are designed for enriching their understanding of advanced technologies like 6G.
This partnership will integrate 6G concepts into NYUAD’s academic curriculum, offering practical insights as well as hands-on-experience to students. Ali Al Mansoori, group chief people officer at e&, emphasized the importance of supporting future innovators: “At e&, investing in advanced technologies like 6G is important, but what truly matters is supporting the brilliant minds that will shape its future.”
Marwan Bin Shaker, acting chief technology and information officer at e& UAE, noted, “Driving 6G research and innovation is central to our efforts to shape the future of connectivity.” Partnering with NYUAD adds academic depth to these endeavors, fostering a vibrant exchange of knowledge that equips students to contribute significantly to technological advancements.
The collaboration with NYUAD follows a previous Memorandum of Understanding that is signed for exploring 6G technology’s future applications. This comprised the identification of key technology concepts as well as engaging in technical discussions. The company also set a new record speed of 62 Gbps by aggregating several carriers over a streamlined architecture that utilizes MU-MIMO.
