
Chinese equipment maker 's Huawei’s India CTO for core technology Srishty Raj Koul has left the company after decade long stint and joined Swedish gear maker Ericsson as the key account manager, according to his LinkedIn account.
Radhey Shyam Sarda, CTO for radio, left Huawei in October last year and joined Reliance Jio.
Huawei had last year laid off a few 60-70% of its employees, excluding those the R&D and Global Service Center, following plunging demand for its equipment and services amid geopolitical tensions between Beijing and New Delhi, reported in July last year.
Huawei is currently going through uncertain phase in India as the government has prepared a list of “trusted sources” under the National Security Directive for supply of telecom network equipment, which could potentially keep Chinese vendors out of India’s 5G deployment, in alignment with the US and the UK, In which they have taken steps to bar them from critical infrastructure.
The Chinese Organizations faces accusation of involvement in snooping on behalf of the Chinese state. The Indian government – amid border tensions with China – has been informally nudging state-runs a telecommunications organization and even private ones to stop sourcing equipment from that country, citing national security. But there is no official communication barring Chinese vendors so far. Huawei has denied illegal activities.
Recently reported that Airtel has given a wireline expansion contract worth Rs 300 crore to Huawei for its national long distance (NLD) network. Huawei, however, lost significant radio business from Airtel amid the uncertainty.
