Foxconn and Stellantis JV set up R&D for Automotive Semiconductors tech

SiliconAuto, supported by Foxconn, established its research and development center in Bengaluru, dedicated to designing semiconductor products and developing system-on-chip technology for the automotive industry. SiliconAuto is a partnership between Stellantis NV from the Netherlands and Hon Hai Technology Group (Foxconn).

"This new centre embodies SiliconAuto's commitment to innovation and excellence in the automotive industry. Our India team is set to drive forward our vision of a smarter and safer future for transportation. Bangalore, with its rich talent pool and thriving tech ecosystem, is the perfect location for our new design centre," SiliconAuto CEO, Gene Liu said in a statement.

In a social media post, Foxconn India's V Lee stated that the R&D centre is ready to enhance the company's innovative strengths in creating advanced automotive technologies and solutions for the automotive sector, including Stellantis. Foxconn is currently in the process of establishing its electric vehicle production facility and is also intending to establish a battery manufacturing unit for electric vehicles.

SiliconAuto stated that the India design center will concentrate on creating advanced semiconductor solutions for electric vehicles (EVs), autonomous driving, and connected car technologies.

"With this expansion, SiliconAuto reaffirms its commitment to India as a key market for talent and technological advancements.

"The company plans to recruit top engineers and designers, further strengthening its team and contributing to India's rapidly growing automotive ecosystem," the statement said.
