Replacing Vishant Vora who left the organisation after a decade-long stint, Vodafone Idea has appointed Jagbir Singh as the chief technology officer.
This move comes in just the time when Vodafone Idea is trying to improve its network quality so as to reduce subscriber churn. Especially in priority 16 circles where the telco wants to gain new subscribers, Singh will be focusing on network upgradation and expansion.
Singh was recently working at Smartfren Telecom, Indonesia, as Group Chief Technology Information Officer. He took the responsibility for Network, IT /digital platforms and enterprise business.
"Following our announcement of Vishant's leaving. I am glad to inform you that Jagbir Singh will be joining us as Chief Technology Officer," CEO and MD Ravinder Takkar said in an internal note.
"Jagbir is a highly experienced telecom technology professional with over 30 years’ experience across India and South East Asia where he has been Group CTO with different telecom operators. He has led technology platforms across 4G LTE, 3G/2G, Data center, Open RAN, IP/MPLS, CDN, NFV/SDN, OSS/BSS for mobile, fixed line and enterprise networks," Takkar said.
“This means share losses are likely to persist in the medium term till the firm right sizes to a regional retreat in the strongest circles. While improving market structure is a positive, high leverage and onerous regulatory burden means Vi's equity remains unforecastable. We see value migrating to debt holders,” J.P Morgan said in a note.
