Keysight Technologies, Inc. announces the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Society for Applied Microwave Electronics Engineering & Research (SAMEER), a major R&D organization under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India, so as to foster developments in healthcare and 6G technologies throughout India. The two organizations plan to establish a healthcare center of excellence and a research lab for researching 6G communications in this regard.

India must quickly develop core competence and an ecosystem in 6G and other such critical sectors such as medical electronics, to ramp up its involvement. In this endeavor, Keysight and SAMEER will partner as an established government research institution. This partnership will focus on these thrust areas to fast-track innovations in the realm of strategic and civilian applications, building on the existing collaboration.

Under the MoU, Keysight shall assist SAMEER in developing and establishing fully operational labs to support 6G research and development across various Indian institutions. Plans also include establishing a healthcare-focused center of excellence that will advance imaging technologies, particularly magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). This partnership will contribute to the 'Made in India' initiative, which emphasizes local growth and development.

Dr. P. Hanumantha Rao, Director General at SAMEER, commented: “We are leading 6G research in India after the successful demonstration of our end-to-end 5G stack along with IIT Madras. The proposed collaboration with Keysight Technologies will enhance this further and enable Indian research and academic institutions to get access to next-generation technologies.”

SAMEER has made unique provisions for a house-built Linear Accelerator for cancer therapy as well as an exclusively independent 1.5T affordable MRI. The MoU will allow Keysight to maximize SAMEER's products for the common life among the Indians and continue to research these products by integrating capabilities with one another.

Sudhir Tangri, Vice President of Asia Pacific Sales and Country General Manager of India at Keysight, stated: “Establishing a center of excellence and building 6G research areas is a critical step towards driving innovation in India. Through this collaboration, we are proud to provide the much-needed infrastructure and technology that will empower future research across healthcare and other sectors. SAMEER is a leader in its field, and we are excited to work together to accelerate our 6G and healthcare vision.”
