Amagi, a media technology firm, announced the signing of a formal deal to purchase Tellyo, a
cloud-based remote
video creation platform, for an undisclosed sum. Amagi will benefit from the purchase by expanding its video toolset for live sports and news broadcasts, as well as improving the live video streaming and editing experience for consumers globally.
UK-based Tellyo empowers media and content teams to produce live videos that can be streamed to multiple digital and social media destinations using its Stream Studio platform.The company enables branded video clips, highlights, and compilations to be created and published to channels simultaneously and instantly, from anywhere. The acquisition also suggests that Amagi is expanding its footprint in Europe. Last year, it had set up a development center in Croatia, its first outside India, as per economic times.
"Together, we (Amagi and Tellyo) will not only enrich Amagi’s product offerings, but also bring investments in the Eastern European region and create new possibilities for local talent and global customers,” said Baskar Subramanianan, cofounder and chief executive officer (CEO), Amagi.
Amagi also purchased Streamwise, an early-stage data gathering and reporting tool for
video providers, last year.
“We believe that joining forces with Amagi will provide us with the resources and scale to reach new heights,” said Richard Collins, CEO, Tellyo.
Amagi offers cloud broadcasting and targeted
advertising solutions to broadcast and streaming television networks. Amagi now claims to handle over 700 content companies and manage over 2,100 channel deliveries in over 40 countries via their platform.
