Bethesda-Owner ZeniMax has been bought for $7.5 Billion by Microsoft

Strengthening its Xbox video game offering, Microsoft would acquire ZeniMax Media for Rs. 55,223 crores in cash. While developing hits that include the Elder Scrolls, Wolfenstein, and Dishonored, ZeniMax is the parent company of Bethesda Softworks

This deal comes into the picture after more than a week after Microsoft had failed to bid for short video app TikTok’s US assets. And as a partnership with Oracle and Walmart rather than an outright sale, TikTok has currently structured the deal.

When they launch on Xbox or PC, Microsoft said it plans to bring Bethesda's future games into its monthly Xbox Game Pass subscription service. Microsoft has also stated that the game pass now has more than 15 million subscribers.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, gaming is on a tear due to demand from stuck-at-home users. Also offering users many ways to play via its cloud service, Microsoft also offers consoles at different price points.
