Microsoft will contribute 33.7 billion Swedish crowns ($3.21 billion) to grow its cloud and
artificial intelligence infrastructure in Sweden for a two-year time frame, the U.S. tech team said on Monday.
The largest investment that Microsoft has ever made in Sweden also includes a promise to help train 250,000 people, or 2.4% of the population, in AI skills. This will help Sweden become more competitive, according to the announcement.
"This announcement goes beyond technology, it's a commitment to ensuring broad access to the tools and skills needed for Sweden's people and economy to thrive in the AI era," Microsoft Vice Chair and President Brad Smith said in a statement.
On account of its funding, the organization said it intends to send 20,000 of the most progressive designs handling units (GPU), which accelerate PC computations, at its Swedish data centre locales in Sandviken, Gavle and Staffanstorp. Microsoft stated that it was committed to increasing
AI adoption throughout the Nordic areas, which in addition to Denmark, Finland, Iceland, and Norway.
