With the help of a partnership with industry-leading mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) US Mobile, the kid-friendly smartphone Pinwheel is now available to families all around the country.
The average age at which kids get their first smartphone is getting younger every year, which makes many parents anxious about any potential risks that might be present online. Parents can modify the Pinwheel features on their child's smartphone to promote healthy development during adolescence.
“I am absolutely thrilled about the new partnership between Pinwheel and US Mobile,” said Ryan Werner, Pinwheel’s head of partnerships. “Pinwheel’s cutting-edge technology combined with US Mobile’s high-quality wireless network services will enable the creation of products and services that prioritize the well-being and safety of children in the digital age at an affordable price.”
To encourage wholesome routines and growth, Pinwheel was developed in collaboration with therapists and child development specialists. Pinwheel's parental guidance software is installed on genuine smartphones so that parents can control and keep an eye on their children's contacts, screen time, and apps. More than 700 apps are available for parents to pick from in the App Library, which also provides in-depth descriptions of each app's risks and unique safety ratings.
“We are excited to add an affordable US Mobile cell phone plan as an option for Pinwheel families,” Werner said. “This will give many more parents and kids the tools to learn to use technology responsibly.”
