In the next five years for innovation hub in Bengaluru, Siemens Healthineers will invest Rs. 1,300 crore.
It is the biggest investment in India which makes the country home to Siemens’ fourth innovation hub, after the US, Germany and China. It is Siemens’ 2025 strategy part and will add an addition of 1,800 digital talents in 10 years. It is said by Peter Schardt, Chief Technology Officer, Siemens.
“The innovation hub would look at diagnostic automation, artificial intelligenec, cyber security and immersive technologies, among others. Siemens has till date invested about Rs. 3,000 crore in research and development in the country and has employed about 2,500 people,” said Gerd Hoefner, Senior Vice-President, Development Center and Managing Director, Siemens Healthcare Private Ltd.
Bengaluru is the city producing Cios Fit C-arms and Somatom.go CT scanners. Designed at entry-level systems, these are developed and made in India, which are later sold in the South-East Asia, Africa, Eastern Europe and South America, making products more affordable in more markets.
The Executive Vice President - India, Siemens Healthineers, Vivek Kanade said that they are bringing in their COVID-19 testing kits and were awaiting for the regulatory approvals of the antigen test, which launched recently in overseas. 6+ million PCR kits have been supplied to the governments in Telengana, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat and other.
By 2025, the first phase of the new campus will include 70,000 sq.m of office space for the enlarged R&D center and 5,000 sq.m of space for factory.
