SK Telecom, Samsung Develop Advanced 5G Cloud System

One of South Korea’s prime mobile carrier, SK Telecom Co., on Sunday, said that it has developed a next-gen cloud native core network system with Samsung Electronics Co. for providing better 5G services.

Being a central part of a telecommunication’s infrastructure, a core network handles key tasks, which include device certification, and service management quality. It is completed for mobile subscribers, letting them access various services.

Saying that its latest core network working as the first in the industry, for meeting the Release 16 standards from the global wireless standards body 3GPP, SK Telecom’s this service cover the second phase of 5G solutions.

SK Telecom’s network system, which is co-developed with Samsung, after two years collaboration, is based-on a cloud native format, that functions in a modularized environment for highly flexible scaling and utilizes service communication proxy (SCP) technology, which allows the carrier for providing low latency, ultra-high speed and enhanced connectivity in a 5G services at superb quality.

SK Telecom stated that its SCP solution, which is named T-Mesh, can improve communications’ speed by 30 percent and provides stable data traffic management.

Earlier this year, SK Telecom and Samsung signed this partnership for the research of advanced 5G solutions and 6G technology development.
