Tech Mahindra's move to establish a Global Capability Centre (GCC) for Goodyear in Hyderabad highlights its growing focus on high-value partnerships and in-house technology solutions. The proposed centre, expected to employ 3,000 professionals, will support Goodyear’s research and development (R&D) and IT operations.
GCCs, which allow Fortune 500 companies to manage their tech and business functions in-house rather than outsourcing them, have become a key strategy for Indian IT firms. By helping set up these centres, Tech Mahindra can provide talent and infrastructure while securing long-term partnerships.
This initiative aligns with Tech Mahindra’s broader strategy under CEO Mohit Joshi, who took over in December 2023. As part of its three-year roadmap, Project Fortius, the company is prioritizing operating margin expansion, revenue growth, and optimizing client accounts.
Under Joshi’s leadership, Tech Mahindra is actively engaging with GCCs to strengthen its position in the global IT services market. This shift reflects the company’s evolving business model, where it balances traditional IT outsourcing with higher-margin, capability-driven engagements.
