For an expanding number of programmes, the worldwide space industry needs a consistent supply of extremely dependable "space-grade" semiconductors. STMicroelectronics, a global semiconductor company serving clients across the range of electronics applications, and TTTech, a technology leader in secure networking and computing systems, are celebrating seven years of cooperation in the space industry.

Key commercial and exploration programmes in the space sector use TTTech's cutting-edge, secure, and dependable networking components and platform solutions. A second version of the chip that TTTech and ST jointly developed is being installed in modules of the Gateway space station, a crucial component of NASA's Artemis programme, after the initial variant was chosen for the Ariane 6 launcher programme and was optimised for the extremely harsh limitations of deep space.

“We are witnessing a new space era. The space market has captured lots of commercial funding and benefits from increased governmental spending. There is a growing demand for satellite constellations providing global internet connection and earth observation. At the same time, international cooperation, such as NASA Artemis and programs like the Gateway space station, are pushing space travel and new industries and projects, such as Moon habitation and rovers. They also foster the need for high-tech, safe, and secure digital communication solutions, which is our core competence. TTTech is proud to be on board of such missions and to work with a leading technology company like STMicroelectronics to shape the future of the space market,” says Georg Kopetz, CEO TTTech.
