What impact will 5G have in today's tech-driven world?

With unprecedented speeds, which is expected to be 10 times faster than today’s 4G networks, the advent of 5G will completely change the world that we are living in today. Moreover, in data-hungry categories such as artificial intelligence, advanced manufacturing and remote health care, 5G is destined to create opportunities for innovation and progress like never before.

The capabilities of most consumer devices will far exceed if they are connected to 5G. For instance,  using current 4G technology, it takes several minutes to download a feature film, but with 5G capabilities, the time would be reduced to several seconds.

Hence the main advantage of 5G is its greater speed in the transmissions with considerably low latency. Thus, enabling a greater capacity of remote execution, a greater number of connected devices and the possibility of implementing virtual networks.

Also, the combination of nex-gen technologies such as AI, ML, Big Data with 5G network will help bring to life the desired outcomes of advanced technologies including autonomous vehicles, smart homes, connected health care, digital agriculture, to name a few.

5G is also expected to have a tremendous impact on the commercial world. This will change the course of many industrial facets, enabling new insights, efficiencies, innovations and IIoT uses which are simply unavailable with today’s 4G. It is likely going to bring changes on how we think about connectivity for the home, the enterprise and the way we do our business, irrespective of the industrial sector.

Here are some of the industries that is likely going to thrive with the advent of 5G technology:

Smart Buildings: 5G network infrastructure will take the building automation to a whole new different level. Every building system, including HVAC, lighting, fire, security, energy and water will be heavily dependent on 5G.

Manufacturing:  5G application in Industry 4.0 with end-to-end automation using IIoT would drastically change how manufacturing operations were carried so far.

Smart cities: As IoT sensors will monitor and collect data on everything from air quality, to energy use, to traffic patterns, 5G integrated with artificial intelligence will help in analyzing the massive amounts of data being collected to automate processes.

Transportation: Self-driving vehicles have become the next big thing in human history where 5G would be its best accelerator. This technology would give vehicles the ability to communicate in real-time with other nearby vehicles and with fixed roadway infrastructure.
