Accenture, a global IT services organization, announced the acquisition of Bengaluru-based Excelmax Technologies, a
semiconductor design services provider, to strengthen the company's increasing silicon design and
engineering capabilities.
“Excelmax provides custom silicon solutions used in consumer devices, data centers, artificial intelligence (AI) and computational platforms that enable edge
AI deployments, to clients in the automotive, telecommunications and high-tech industries,” Accenture said in a statement.
Accenture's capabilities to help global clients accelerate edge computing innovation will be expanded by roughly 450 people in critical areas such as emulation, automotive, physical design, analog, logic design, and verification as a result of this acquisition. Accenture's global workforce currently totals roughly 750,200 individuals.
This purchase comes after the inclusion of Canada-based XtremeEDA, another semiconductor design services business acquired in 2022.
The semiconductor market is seeing an increase in demand for silicon design engineering, owing to the growth of data centers and the growing use of AI and edge computing. Accenture added that the increased consumer appetite for electronics is driving fresh investment in the chip design industry.
Accenture, the world's largest IT services company, dominated the acquisitions game, announcing $2.3 billion in investments across 12 acquisitions in Q3 FY24. It completed five acquisitions in May alone, up from four in April. This brings its overall number for FY24 to 35, with investments worth more than double to $5.2 billion, up from $2.5 billion in FY23.
