Autodesk, Inc. declared that it has acquired Wonder Dynamics, the company behind Wonder Studio, a cloud-based 3D animation and VFX solution that combines well-established tools with artificial intelligence (AI). Wonder Studio works well with popular 3D tools like Autodesk Maya, making it easier for artists to animate, light, and put together 3D characters in live-action scenes.

With the acquisition of Wonder Dynamics by Autodesk, more creators will be able to add 3D animated characters to their projects and stories without having to learn how to do so and automate procedures that are typically complicated and time-consuming.

"Bringing Wonder Dynamics into the Autodesk Media & Entertainment portfolio extends our history of empowering artists with innovative and accessible solutions that break down barriers to entry," said Diana Colella, Executive Vice President of Media & Entertainment at Autodesk. "In the 1990s, we helped artists learn how to use computers to create 3D graphics leading to the industry we see today, and Wonder Dynamics is our next step on that journey. By embracing emerging technology, we want to help teams and creators of all sizes and skill levels create more content, more easily, so everyone has the power to bring their inspiring stories to life."

By developing machine learning and AI tools that enable filmmakers to produce VFX and CGI elements faster and at a significantly lower price point, Wonder Dynamics makes the visual effects process more accessible and more affordable. Wonder Studio presently offers a module that interfaces with proficient 3D instruments, for example, Autodesk Maya and Blender to convey smoothed out excellent person work processes. Autodesk's long-term goal of connecting teams, data, and processes with Flow, the Media & Entertainment industry cloud on Autodesk's Design and Make platform, is supported by the acquisition of Wonder Dynamics.
