Sonia Eland has been named executive vice president and country manager for Australia and New Zealand by HCLTech, beginning April 1, 2024. Sonia will report to Swapan Johri, president, growth markets at HCLTech, in her new position.

Sonia will be based in Sydney and takes over from Michael Horton, who will move into a consulting role after a stint of close to 10 years, during which he helped establish HCLTech as a digital technology services partner in Australia and New Zealand, as per economic times.

Sonia has almost three decades of expertise in a variety of areas including consulting, technology, finance, retail, and travel. She was the technology strategy and transformation partner at Deloitte Australia before joining HCLTech. She has previously worked for companies such as DXC Technology, CSC, Fujitsu, Westpac, and HSBC. She graduated from both Macquarie Business School and the University of Sydney.

“We are delighted to welcome Sonia to HCLTech. I am confident that her rich experience adds immense value to our clients and our growth strategy in Australia and New Zealand,” said Johri.

“With big data, AI, IoT, cloud and cyber security playing an increasingly significant role in our day-to-day lives, businesses need trusted partners with the experience, capability and creativity to harness the full power of digital and embed resiliency, optimisation and continuous innovation into their organizations,” Eland said.

HCLTech has operated in Australia and New Zealand for more than two decades. This year, the company expanded its collaborations with ANZ Bank, Cricket Australia, and the agricultural giant Elders.
