The Paris-based generative AI startup Mistral AI and
Google Cloud announced a partnership that will enable Mistral AI to deploy its
language models throughout the tech giant's infrastructure.
"As part of the agreement, Mistral AI will use Google Cloud's AI-optimized infrastructure, including TPU Accelerators, to further test, build, and scale up its LLMs (large language models), all while benefiting from Google Cloud's security and privacy standards," the joint statement said.
A large language model is a statistical language model, trained on a massive amount of data, that can be used to generate and translate text and other content, and perform other
language processing tasks, as per economic times
Furthermore, the recently developed mixture-of-expert model by Mistral AI will eventually be offered on the Google Cloud Marketplace. This method strengthens Mistral AI's capacity to market, sell, and distribute upcoming LLMs through the Google Cloud Marketplace by fully utilizing—though not solely—Google Cloud's globally distributed AI-optimized infrastructure.
"Google Cloud offers a flexible hardware and software stack that will help us continue on our trajectory towards building larger, more sophisticated open source AI models across more languages, as well as make those models easier to access for all types of organizations around the world," said Arthur Mensch, CEO and co-founder of Mistral AI. "Google Cloud's open source support and responsible AI principles, extensive and reliable infrastructure capabilities, and commitments around privacy and security align strongly with our mission to develop openly available
AI models."
