AI is one technology that has multiple dimensions and the more we learn about it, the wider its scope gets. Human-Centered AI or HCAI has been one of the latest talking points surrounding AI. This is a new emerging discipline and aims to develop AI systems that can amplify as well as augment human abilities instead of displacing it. HCAI aims at preserving human control in such a way that AI meets human needs while at the same time operate transparently. Apart from that, HCAI also strives to deliver equitable outcomes and respect human privacy making it much more effective and less of a threat to privacy.

HCAI learns from human inputs as well as collaborations. And it focuses on algorithms that exist among a bigger human-centric system. At the same time, tech giants IBM is experimenting more on Human-AI collaboration and co-creation. They have learned that the future of data science work will be a collaboration between AI and humans.  And for this, automation as well as human expertise is crucial. As HCAI holds immense potential in improving human lives, let’s analyze how it can enhance different industries and its operations.

As one of the most important facets of a society, any development in the healthcare domain is a welcome. And modern-day healthcare is not just data-intensive. Human AI will be crucial in managing the decentralized grids and apart from that, AI can optimize the use of energy.  AI can also balance the demand and supply requirements when it comes to electricity in real time while also managing the shortage. This in turn will help reduce the costs as well. Another area of AI that many people overlook is its ability to work alongside other technologies such as big data and IoT which will increase the potential of AI when it comes to renewable energy. For example, using sensors in gas turbines along with AI data processing systems can help adjust the fuel valves which in turn will help reduce emissions.        

Even though, HCAI holds immense potential, to effectively support this man and machine partnership, one important question needs to be answered.
