India is at the forefront in talent and domain skills in the field of Artificial Intelligence, giving it a strong position in the era of AI transformation, according to Nasscom's new chairperson Sindhu Gangadharan, who believes that this is an ideal time to be in India, especially for those working in the technology industry.
Gangadharan discussed various important topics ranging from the significance of mental and social health in the workplace to the economic effects of AI and GenAI, aiming to calm worries about AI replacing jobs.
She emphasized the importance of organizations prioritizing the mental and physical health of their employees and integrating it into their organizational culture through policies, practices, and support groups.
Gangadharan's remark is crucial in light of the unfortunate passing of a young worker at a well-known consulting company, sparking widespread outcry on social media and sparking heated discussions in the corporate world in India about the high levels of stress in workplaces.
Gangadharan also discussed India's increasing influence as the "GCC capital of the world", highlighted the country's demonstrated expertise in AI capabilities and workforce, and expressed her confidence in the bright future of the Indian technology sector.
"India has been very clear about its strengths, of how we lead the charge when it comes to technology, and it has demonstrated it as well...(but) we can't rest on our laurels. It is really up to us to make sure that we play to our strengths on talent and skilling. I am very optimistic and bullish about the Indian technology industry," she said when asked about challenges she foresees in the short to mid-term for India's over USD 254 billion IT sector, including impact, if any, of US election results.
