Infosys's advanced development center is designed to foster innovation in leading-edge technologies such as cloud, AI, and digital transformation across sectors like manufacturing, logistics, financial services, and energy. The event was attended by their leadership, which included CFO Jayesh Sanghrajka, along with senior state officials.

On Wednesday, Infosys, the country’s second largest IT services company, opened a modern development centre (DC) in New Town, Kolkata, signifying a significant milestone in the IT development of West Bengal. Constructed with an expenditure exceeding Rs 426 crore, the 320,000 sq ft establishment is intended to house more than 4,000 staff members in a hybrid work environment.

Banerjee hailed the facility as a “New Year gift” to the state, calling it a “historic” development that reinforces Bengal’s position as a leading IT destination. “The inauguration of Infosys’ Kolkata Development Centre is a hallmark investment in West Bengal. This centre will advance innovation, create employment opportunities, and position the state as a hub for IT excellence in India,” she said.

The Infosys facility is consistent with the company's ESG commitments, integrating green building standards like energy-efficient cooling systems, smart building automation, rainwater collection, and wastewater recycling. It also includes adaptable work areas, training facilities, and health-related amenities.

Banerjee emphasized additional advancements, such as a fresh Silicon Valley initiative in New Town covering 200 acres, involving an investment of Rs 27,000 crore and the capacity to generate 75,000 jobs. She additionally declared the creation of a cable landing station to improve connectivity for IT companies in the state.
